Minnesota State Colleges and Universities announces 2005 Excellence Awards for Fiscal, Facilities Management

Awards recognizing leadership and team effort for excellence in financial and facilities management of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities were presented this week at the Chief Financial and Facilities Officers meeting in Minneapolis.
The awards program, which began in 1997, publicly recognizes the significant contributions and outstanding efforts of the system's colleges, universities and employees. Facilities management awards were added in 1999.
"These award winners have clearly demonstrated some of the terrific work done at colleges and universities across Minnesota. Their excellent leadership has improved services to students and staff at a time of increasing financial pressures," said Laura M. King, vice chancellor and chief financial officer for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.
The award winners were selected from nominations made by presidents and college and university leadership. The awards and their recipients are:
Excellence in Financial Management 2005 awards are given for significant contributions to increased efficiency and effectiveness of finances and administrative services throughout the institution. This year's winners are Hennepin Technical College; Minneapolis Community and Technical College; Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical; Minnesota State University, Mankato; Minnesota State University Moorhead; Riverland Community College; Rochester Community and Technical College; Saint Paul College; South Central College; Southwest Minnesota State University; St. Cloud State University; St. Cloud Technical College; and Winona State University.
Excellence in Facilities Management 2005 awards are given for successful and timely completion of capital improvement and repair projects, increased efficiency and effectiveness of space use throughout the institution and customer service excellence to students, staff and faculty. This year's winners are Minnesota State University, Mankato; Minnesota West Community and Technical College; Pine Technical College; Riverland Community College; Saint Paul College; South Central College; and Winona State University.
Outstanding Service Award 2005 are given to individuals who demonstrated outstanding contributions toward furthering professionalism in financial management. The winners are Roger Freeman - Anoka Ramsey Community College; Patricia Leistikow - Itasca Community College; Cathleen Brannen - Metropolitan State University; Scott Erickson - Minneapolis Community and Technical College; Roger Broz - Minneapolis Community and Technical College; Mike Kroening - Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical; H. Dean Trauger- Minnesota State University, Mankato; Bernardine Bryant - Normandale Community College; Brad Doss - Riverland Community College; and Debra Kerkaert - Southwest Minnesota State University.
Office of the Chancellor Award 2005 are given to individuals who demonstrated team spirit, leadership, outstanding service to staff, students, the institutions and the system, and achievements beyond the call of duty. The winners are Larry Margolis - Inver Hills Community College; and Lori Voss - Minnesota West Community and Technical College.
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system comprises 32 state universities, community colleges, technical colleges and combined community and technical colleges located on 53 campuses across the state. The system serves approximately 240,000 students annually in credit-based courses and another 130,000 in non-credit courses.
