MnSCU Board Appoints Litecky Interim President of Century College the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees, acting on a recommendation by Chancellor Morris J. Anderson, today approved the appointment of Lawrence Litecky as interim president of Century College, effective April 3. He replaces Charles Hays, who resigned.
"With his background, experience and relationships in the community, Larry Litecky is the right person at the right time for this job," said Chancellor Anderson.
Litecky is currently the special assistant to the senior vice president for student and academic affairs at Metropolitan State University, where he has been instrumental in developing an urban teacher education program. From 1998 to 1999, he served as special assistant to the chancellor, and before that he was president of the Minnesota Community College Faculty Association for eight years. Litecky has a doctorate and master's degree from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor's degree from the University of St. Thomas.
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is made up of 36 state universities, community and technical colleges. The system serves approximately 230,000 students a year with a fall 1998 enrollment of about 147,000.
